Car-Deforming

During my study at the Design Academy Eindhoven I designed together with 10 other students a Concept car for Renault.

The starting point for the design is the resistance which a driving car is liable to.  On a picture you can’t see the speed of a car, but on the face of a person in the rollercoaster you definitely can see speed (picture 2). We made a car that deforms according to his speed. There are a few basic elements that stay where they are like the lamps, grill and cabin the rest of the car deforms due to air resistance. The basic form of the car is cubic, the harder you drive the faster he looks.

The inside of the car deforms as well. It forms around the body of the user, when he leaves the car you can still see his contours in the seat. After a few seconds the car will get back to its original form.
